For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocation services, please . The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $57-62K. About the RoleAs the Assistant/Associate Area Agent you will provide leadership for Extension programs in the area of Small Acreage and Food Production. You will focus on small farm crop production, including supporting growers with aspects of marketing grant support. You will collaborate with growers, educational institutions, governmental organizations, and community organizations to develop a program that introduces new technologies and appropriate varieties for crop production with the focus of providing fresh local produce and value-added products to direct markets, CSAs, restaurants, and other outlets. Targeted educational programs may include beginning farmer workshops, on-farm food safety training, innovative irrigation practices, soil management, weed management, and season extension. Duties & Responsibilities:Conduct a systematic analysis of national, Arizona, and county data, local resources, and historical information in order to identify community assets, program needs, and teaching opportunities.Identify resources (grants, contracts, in kind contributions, etc.) to enhance programs.Work in cooperation with community groups, local leaders, Extension advisory groups, and other Extension professionals, develops an annual Plan of Work.Consult with Extension faculty, Experiment Station researchers, and other experts in the development of educational programs, applied research, and scholarly works.Evaluate and document results and impacts of educational programs.Communicate program results to both professional peers and clientele through periodic reports, scholarly works, and various types of publications.Consult with the County Extension Director(s) to evaluate program effectiveness and personal achievements.Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in plant sciences, horticulture or related disciplines.Experience in plant production systems, small scale agriculture, on-farm food safety, and other sustainable agricultural practices preferred.Experience in collaboration and relationship building.Evidence of ability to develop research projects and manage multiple work projects to assure timely completion.Demonstrated ability to obtain external funding.Ability to promote public understanding and support for Extension and University programs.Understanding of Yavapai/Coconino County agricultural needs, local needs assessments, and socio-geography.Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.Must be able to travel regionally and nationally (quarterly conferences.)Another Source works with their clients, on a retained project basis.
