MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:The following is a summary of the major essential functions of the job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time. Assist Corporate Director of Pharmacy Services in maintaining the integrity of the Inpatient Pharmacy 340B program which includes but is not limited to: a. Maintain drug database and ensure charge units are correct. b. Check database usage file downloads daily to ensure accuracy and address any problems found in a timely manner. c. Perform audits as assigned and sign 340B log to ensure compliance.Assists with placing drop ship orders utilizing correct accumulator accounts.Helps ensure invoices are processed correctly and proper accumulators are decremented for quantities ordered. Reports and corrects any errors or problems found during execution of responsibilitiesProficient in use of computer programs: Epic, Pyxis, Carousel, Supply Works, spread sheets and PassPort. Ability to switch between programs for data searches is a must.Ability to critically think across various systems, departments, and processes in order to properly troubleshoot an issue and see it through to resolution. Ability to communicate effectively with Inventory Control Specialist, Pharmacy IT manager, accounting representative, corporate revenue cycle representative, IST Specialist(s) or other support staff to resolve problems in system setup or function.Maintains and protects at all times the right to privacy of all patients and hospital employees as evidenced by the securing of confidential records and release of information to authorized persons only. Promotes positive guest relations through courteous and thoughtful actions to visitors, patients, and co-workers.Demonstrates telephone courtesy.Demonstrates support of the Medical Center in all interactions with visitors and coworkers.Assist with inventory control as needed.Checks assigned areas (s) within department for expired medication according to policy and procedure and resolves problems. Responsible for recording of appropriate information on Quality Control documents when assigned to specific work area.Completes assigned work and other tasks assigned within scheduled time. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the department's policies and procedures.Assists with supplying information for 340 B auditors and participates in auditor discussions.Immediate supervisor is notified when all assigned tasks are finished so that further assignments may be given.QUALIFICATIONS:The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum require­ments necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:Registered as a technician with the NC Board of Pharmacy. Completion of formal or NCBOP approved pharmacy technician training program. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) completion required. If not certified at time of hire, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Further education 340B as directed by Corporate Director will be required. WORK EXPERIENCE:One year experience as a CFVHS pharmacy technician is preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Effective communicator, ability to accept constructive criticism and learn new skills and ability to adjust to varying workloads. Must be competent with various computer systems and easily troubleshoot problems independently with minimal supervisionPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able read physician notes/orders, medication labels, medication lists, etc. and have manual dexterity for use of equipment operated by pharmacy (computer systems, phones, fax machines, automated dispensing cabinets, etc.). Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
