Department: 701100 Trauma Center Expectations: The Injury Prevention and Education Coordinator (IPEC) works under the direction of the Trauma Program Manager (TPM). The IPEC is responsible to create and implement the injury prevention program based on the population and database review. The position involves evaluation of the various aspects of injury including understanding of the causes, mechanisms, patterns, treatments and outcomes of injury. The IPEC develops and delivers trauma education for all nurses caring for trauma patients. Serves as an educational resource and consultant for all departments and staff regarding trauma patient care management, while aligning with State Trauma regulations, the LA County Department of Health EMS Agency contract and the American College of Surgeons Level II requirements. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required. EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: 5 years' experience in an in-patient, acute care setting required. Trauma center experience required. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) Provider issued by American Heart Association or to be obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by State of California Preferred: Current Stop the Bleed certification SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to think critically, proactively and act creatively as an individual as well as part of a team. Effective communication skills, including experience with public speaking and/or providing educational presentations is required. Social media knowledge an asset.
