Job Title : Night Shift Supervisor Department : Extrusion Reports To : Production Manager Backup: Production Manager SUMMARY To supervise the safe, productive operation of a blown film production shift. Maintain good working conditions and relations at all levels while displaying a positive attitude. Run equipment at optimum rates while maintaining a high quality, safe product. Qualified candidates must be able to prove blown-film experience. Night shift 2-2-3 rotation 7am-7pm. Pay negotiable based on experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain positive attitudes and display good work ethic. Monitor all employees for safety, PPE and GMP's Monitor quality, output, and downtime. Staffs shift to meet efficient pounds per man-hour, reducing overtime when possible. Maintain good housekeeping throughout the plant via delegation and supervision of employees. Properly discipline all subordinates i.e.: safety, attendance, no call/no show, tardiness, and quality. Keep paperwork updated i.e.: quality documentation, production paperwork, evaluations, resin, and scrap outs. Troubleshoot equipment and call maintenance when needed. Provide training for production employees either personally or through others. Conduct shift meetings Pump resin when needed. Maintain full silo level when possible. Check quality on all lines at least once per shift, and verify all set-ups are correct. Maintain product safety and quality on shift utilizing our quality and product safety systems. Other duties may be assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Following all documented work instructions directly supervises employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); a MINIMUM of four years of experience in the blown film CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS C.P.R (will be trained in-house) Forklift license (will be trained in-house) LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete reports and forms associated with the position: Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusion. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
