Silver Consolidated SchoolsJob DescriptionThe SCSD is an EEOC employerPosition: Custodian/ WarehouseSupervisor: Associate SuperintendentGeneral Job Description: To receive, stock, and deliver materials, equipment, and food items. To gather, sort, process and deliver mail. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.Demonstrate ethical behavior.Engage in self-development.Follow district policies and administrative rules and regulations.Maintain behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.Know what to do to successfully complete assigned work.Project over-all concern for personal appearance as it relates to job performance.Carry out assignments and instructions from supervisor(s) in a competent and efficient mannerPerform assignments in such a manner so as not to interrupt the learning environment.Work in a safe manner with personal safety and the safety of others as the number one priority.Communicate with supervisor and co-workers.Plan and execute work efficiently within the work order system.Receive all merchandise, unload, inspect and accept deliveries.Fill, load and deliver supplies, equipment and orders of all types in a safe and efficient manner.Process paperwork on incoming and outgoing supplies, equipment and materials.Maintain records as directed, including HACCP logs and commodity logs.Gather mail from pre-determined sources, sort, sack, and deliver to each facility.Process outgoing mail.Maintain warehouse complex in an orderly and clean mannerOperate computer.Additional Duties and Responsibilities:Perform manual physical labor, lifting and moving materials, furniture, equipment and supplies.Maintain assigned uniforms, work vehicle(s), equipment, tools and shop area in operable, safe and attractive status.Account for supplies, materials, and equipment as required.Complete records and reports and required in a timely manner.Maintain facilities security.Operate heavy equipment such as skytrack, pallet jacks, and forklift in a safe manner.Perform and other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.Qualifications:High School diploma or GED.Valid New Mexico driver's license appropriate for operating vehicles of the size required of this position.Demonstrate knowledge sufficient to be successful in accomplishing the duties of this position.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.Physical Requirements:Physical ability to do manual labor for eight (8) hours per day.Standing, driving, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting. Lifting from floor to mid-thigh maximum (50 pounds) occasionally. Lifting from mid-thigh to shoulder maximum (50 pounds) occasionally. Lifting from shoulders to overhead (40 pounds) occasionally, carrying (50 pounds) maximum occasionally. Lifting more than 50 pounds of dead weight should be done by at least two people.Work overhead, in tight areas, off of ladders, at floor level (on knees).Hand/eye coordination, normal range of sight.Ability to operate forklifts.Fingering or otherwise working with fingers.Safety and Health Requirements:Proper posture is required to eliminate acute and chronic low back pain.Wear protective devices such as eyewear, non-skid pads on shoes, steel toe shoes, as job conditions demand.Read, understand, and observe all precautions and proper methods of use on all chemicals, equipment, tools and materials.Complete all required training.Ability to work safely around moving machinery.Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.Equipment/Material Handled:Hand tools, calculators, ladders, platforms, chemicals, materials, freezers, refrigerators, and moving equipment including handcarts, forklifts, and pallet jacks. Freight from UPS and common carriers in all varieties, sizes and shapes. All warehouse supplies. Work Environment:The work environment varies greatly in the place of work from working in a building alone to working in school facilities with large numbers of people. Conditions range from working outside in the extreme heat of the summer, to comfortable building, to working outside in very cold temperatures of the winter. Work schedule will be assigned to best meet the needs of the students and may be altered at any time to accommodate the students. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
