Primary Purpose: Oversees and manages manufacturing operations of the Nacogdoches, TX manufacturing plant to achieve company objectives for safety, cost, delivery, quality, employee engagement and development. Key Responsibilities: Position includes active oversight of all aspects of the plant operations. While the below items do not represent a complete list of job responsibilities, they represent the essential job functions: * Driving employee engagement, training and development to maximize safety. The operations can be very hazardous and a constant focus on safe conditions and practices is required. This position must show unwavering strong leadership in this area. * Supervises staff to include hiring, training, evaluating performance and determining disciplinary actions when necessary. Skillful management of the staff is essential to success in this position. This is achieved through active coaching and communications, providing insightful feedback to reports, creating individual staff goals aligned to department and company goals, and creating adequate "accountability" systems. * Development of personnel is a very important aspect of the position. This includes creating an environment in the plant where personnel development is encouraged and facilitated. Evaluating personnel and identifying near and long-term growth opportunities is important. Additionally, creating clear job responsibilities and alignment of resources with plant goals is critical to maximizing return of personnel. * Manage the P&L, driving all operations to meet or exceed the plan (budget). The cost structure portion of financial performance is the responsibility of this position. This includes proper oversight of expenditures, prompt identification of cost issues, coaching and active communication with department personnel as issues are identified. * Labor costs are a key cost component and improving labor productivity is essential to the position. Development of suitable systems and management of existing tools to provide accountability is important. * As in any wood business, acquiring suitable yields is essential to financial performance. Activities in this area range from daily monitoring of operations to longer range yield studies. Active management of scrap is critical to material cost. * Overhead cost needs to be reviewed constantly to understand opportunities for improvement. Repairs and Maintenance is a major expense category that we have much opportunity to improve with better care taken of equipment and involvement of operators. Work closely with Engineering and Maintenance personnel, communicating very actively, to derive the most benefit from these personnel. * Develops appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with manufacturing principles and practices, Endura rules and regulations and applicable laws and regulations, monitors compliance with these areas. * Experience with utilization and development of Quality improvement plans and procedures is essential to improve efficiency by reducing unnecessary errors and ensure compliance with material manufacturing specifications and help to obtain high customer satisfaction * Wood processing is high volume operation in many parts of the process. However, final product customization levels are very demanding with many different specifications involved. Mistakes on customization can result in considerable financial loss, and management of personnel and systems to reduce and eliminate these losses is an essential function of the job. Training, development of procedures and processes and consistent management of quality are necessary in this position. * Meeting customer requirements is fundamental to the success of our business. Shipping orders on time with good quality and service is a requirement. This will require strong scheduling skills and active coordination with various staff personnel. Additionally, as you progress with your knowledge of the business you will work directly with customers on issues. * Manage production scheduling to maximize productivity and reduce wasted labor while meeting the customers' needs. Endura has been served well by responding to urgent customer needs. These can result in interrupting machine center schedules, and accommodating these rush needs while maintaining efficient operations is an important balance to hit. Excellent communications are required with the P.M., Sales, and the Nacogdoches Team to both meet customer needs, and review the decision to accommodate special/small run sizes, rush orders, exact quantities, etc. * Proper training and management of material transactions in the production department are essential to maintaining accurate inventory values and avoiding cost variances on orders. As a production manager it is essential that these processes are performed daily. * This position needs to be able to identify the changing needs of the operation, analyze options for courses of action, assemble action plans, and be effective at communication and rationalizing the action plan to senior management. * Ensure that your teams understand that continuous improvement is a way of life in the operations and that constantly improving metrics in key areas is expected as part of the plant culture. * Developing a culture based on open/honest dialogue and involvement of all employees that demonstrates the value of their input/engagement in improving performance. * Driving a culture of high performance and accountability. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience: * An independent person that is comfortable self-directing work to meet established goals and performance criteria. * Extremely active floor presence. * "Hands on" attitude and ability to seek knowledge quickly in areas where personal experience is not strong. * Comfortable with promoting change * Minimum of 5 years of experience as a production supervisor or production manager * Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience preferred * Associate's and/or bachelor's degree is preferred * Experience with Inventory Management Systems (MRP systems) such as QAD, SAP, etc. * Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) * Experience with preventative maintenance system software preferred * Ability to speak English & preferably bilingual in Spanish. * Demonstrate integrity, flexibility and sound judgement, respect for people and good critical thinking skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills require * Experience with Lean manufacturing principles * Very strong leadership and communications skills.
