Director, EHS (Americas) - Carmel, IN This position is responsible for developing and implementing EHS and sustainability strategies and initiatives for Americas manufacturing, distribution, and field services as we strive toward World-Class EHS performance. This role also involves driving cultural safety excellence, achieving targets, and delivering outstanding results through continuous improvement, best practice sharing, and development of the regional EHS team members. This position will report directly to the Vice President of EHS and Remediation. What You Will Do: Develop and execute EHS strategies, long-term EHS initiatives, and long- and short-term targets for Americas manufacturing, distribution, and field service that align with the company's overall objectives and vision and aim to achieve world-class EHS culture. Establish and implement robust processes, metrics, and leading and lagging KPIs to effectively monitor, measure, and enhance EHS performance; proactively identify and implement corrective actions for off-track metrics. Lead the regional EHS team by developing and mentoring members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and capabilities. Collaborate with senior leaders, plant managers, and cross-functional business leaders to integrate EHS considerations into business processes, decision-making, and long-term planning. Present strategic plans, initiatives, and performance updates regularly to senior leadership, business and site leaders, and others in the organization. Design and implement global EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to establish consistent and effective EHS management systems throughout the organization. Partner with the Vice President of EHS and Remediation, regional EHS leaders, and other key stakeholders on strategic initiatives, cross-functional teams, and best practice sharing across various parts and functions of the business. Provide leadership and support to Americas EHS team members; ensure standardization of EHS programs, requirements, initiatives, and best practices across the region and businesses, as appropriate. Conduct inspections and audits to detect existing or potential safety, health, and/or environmental hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented. Lead internal investigations and response planning for regulatory inquiries and investigations pertaining to environmental, health, and safety. Mentor team members in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the identification of corrective and preventive action; ensure the timely completion of these actions to prevent or reduce the likelihood of recurring EHS incidents. Direct succession planning for regional EHS team members. Drive employee engagement activities by inspiring and influencing positive behaviors and leading indicators through the implementation of proactive safety programs, including safety campaigns, EHS Kaizens, and Allegion Safety Initiative (ASI) discussions. Assess organizational EHS training needs and coordinate the development and delivery of this training. Collaborate with risk management to oversee workers' compensation program administration; proactively manage claims, establish and maintain KPIs to monitor and measure performance, regularly analyze workers' compensation data for trends, and implement proactive measures to mitigate risk to the business. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Municipal EHS regulations, as well as regional and Corporate EHS requirements. Monitor and stay well-informed of emerging EHS trends, technologies, regulations, and best practices, integrating them into the EHS vision and strategy to ensure ongoing improvement and alignment with industry advancements. What You Need to Succeed: 7+ years' experience of increasing environmental, health, and safety responsibilities preferred, including previous management experience. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Safety Sciences, Engineering, or related field required. Demonstrated knowledge of federal EHS regulatory requirements, industry trends, and the ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization / team environment. Working knowledge of cross-functional EHS disciplines. Proven ability to influence and lead without authority and deliver business results. Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage a large number of projects and track them through completion. Ability to lead and support cross-functional EHS teams and drive safety cultural excellence. Professional certifications are recommended such as (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Material Manager) Ability to travel up to 60% Why Work for Us?
