Job descriptionJob SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and organized Route Manager to oversee daily operations and all driver functions that include thorough driver training, strict safety protocols, regular vehicle inspections, clear communication procedures, performance monitoring, and a strong emphasis on customer service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing route schedules, optimizing delivery processes, and leading a team of drivers to achieve operational excellence. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.ResponsibilitiesManage and optimize daily route schedules for timely deliveries.Supervise and support a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.Analyze delivery data to identify areas for improvement in route planning and execution.Collaborate with other departments to coordinate logistics and resolve any issues that may arise during operations.Develop a positive relationship with employees and customers, control costs, support growth and develop the transportation personnel.Present and perform tasks as requested by the Division Manager.Address all department employee concerns or issues that arise within the team and take appropriate disciplinary action. Disciplinary action that could potentially result in an employee's termination, must first consult with the Division Manager and approved by Corporate.Actively collaborate with the designated union representatives to address any problems or concerns raised by employees regarding their union related issues alongside the Division Manager as they occur.Assist the customer service representative and the Division Manager with sales by helping develop contracts and closing sales. All sales contracts and pricing first need to be approved by the Division Manager and Corporate.Establish, implement and manage the day-to-day route set up for the Raw Material, Trap, Grease and Plumbing departments with the assistance of the Office coordinator.Assigns drivers to deliveries, creates schedules, and regularly reviews and updates the routes consistently and promptly to maintain efficient operations.Inspect route sheets and driver punches for confirmation of service, accuracy of information and driver notes daily.Supervise the Route Clerks in updating and modifying customer notes and information in CSS daily, based on driver and or customer notes. Investigate to make sure CSS information is being updated as required.Report and correct any discrepancies noted on route sheets, weight tickets, etc. and communicate to the Office Coordinator for correction and the Division Manager as appropriate.Oversee the scheduling and administration of formal and informal safety training meetings.Ensure monthly that all company vehicles undergo a thorough inspection according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and maintain all drive DOT files.Carefully analyze the location data from a vehicle tracking system against employee timecards and resolve any discrepancies with Division Manager.Follow up and resolve all customer service issues.Review all driver DOT logs for compliance and accuracy.Set up annual renewal and new vehicle licensing documentation.Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.Be on call 24 hours per day to receive by cell, text or email any issues from drivers or customers needing assistance and schedule calls back or emergency services.Schedule a weekly rotation of drivers and plumber drain techs to cover emergencies.Conduct interviews, post job openings for new drivers, and make hiring decisions per company policy following direction from both the Division Manager and Corporate.Cover as needed for missing driver routes with class A or B driver based on the truck type.Train drivers and route clerks as needed on job functions.Complete and submit annual budgets for trucks, repairs, new drivers and supplies.Ensure drivers are washing trucks every other week.Perform driver ride-alongs occasionally to confirm that the drivers know, understand and are following company and DOT rules and requirements.Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner.Follow department and company procedures.May perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time as business needs evolve over time.QualificationsProven experience in route management or logistics is preferred.Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.Proficient in using route optimization software and GPS technology.Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on metrics.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.Familiarity with D.O.T. regulations and safety regulations related to transportation is a plus.Job Type: Full-timePay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:8 hour shiftApplication Question(s):Knowledge of D.O.T regulations and policiesExperience:Transportation and Logistics: 4 years (Required)Route Management: 4 years (Required)License/Certification:CDL A (Required)Ability to Commute:Kapolei, HI 96707 (Required)Ability to Relocate:Kapolei, HI 96707: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
