Job Purpose As a Staff Accountant, you will be a key member of the finance & accounting team and will be instrumental in supporting UPG Fabrication long-term growth. You will report to the Divisional Controller, performing the month end closing process, recording journal entries, and maintaining reconciliation schedules. Your responsibilities will also include assisting in the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting of P&L and working capital accounts. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will assist the team in providing cross functional support to A/R, A/P team members and identify areas of opportunity to improve process with financial close and reporting. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Prepares, records and tracks journal entries and general ledger reconciliations including cash, A/R, A/P, Inventory, prepaids, fixed assets, debt, accruals, and intercompany transactions. Perform monthly close process, including preparation and review of balance sheet and income statement accounts. Consolidates and verifies financial data with operational personnel and identifies and investigates irregularities. Responds to business unit questions regarding accounting policies or implications and provides guidance and support to the operations teams. Assist Controller with providing data as requested to external auditors for the operating group. Works with Controller to streamline and improve current accounting processes to facilitate the month end close and reconciliation processes. Performs tasks in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Works closely with Controller on items related to (Treasury, Sales, Margins, Tax, Budget) as it relates to the ongoing operational and reporting needs of the company. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting CPA preferred but not required. Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience SAP ERP knowledge preferred not required, or equivalent ERP knowledge. Ability to produce high quality work in ambiguous environments- analytically interpreting financial information- and improve business processes. Possess critical thinking skills and a desire to work with data and use an analytical skillset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a drive to work collaboratively and cross-functionally. Working knowledge of GAAP. Advanced MS Excel skills -- e.g. pivot table, V lookup, indirect, index, etc. Incentives WFH Hybrid Schedule - 3x week in office (Libertyville, IL) , 2x week remote Annual bonus applied.
