Job Title: Safety Specialist Work Place Flexibility: Hybrid Legal Entity: Entergy Arkansas, LLC This position can be filled as a Safety Specialist I, II or III depending on qualifications. Job Summary/Purpose Supports Power Delivery Operations in the management of developing safety training programs/strategy/presentations/workshops/communications/policy/rules. Job Duties/Responsibilities Work with Jurisdictional Safety Team to ensure effective implementation of safety programs and the creation of new programs from analyzing audit/observation/assessment information and consistent system-wide application of safety processes and procedures across the Jurisdiction. Supports the contract workforce, including, but not limited to: Investigate Contractor Incidents and Safety related issues on Entergy System, Perform Field Observations to assure compliance of OSHA Regulations and Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures, Assist Contractor Safety Department during Accident Investigations and Support Contractor Training of Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures. Supports the contract workforce, including, but not limited to: Investigate Contractor Incidents and Safety related issues on Entergy System, Perform Field Observations to assure compliance of OSHA Regulations and Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures, Assist Contractor Safety Department during Accident Investigations and Support Contractor Training of Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures. Must be familiar with and have the ability to interpret OSHA regulations and provide guidance to management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace. Minimum Requirements Minimum education required of the position High School Diploma or equivalent. Desired: Bachelor's degree, preferably in the area of Safety, or equivalent work experience. Minimum experience required of the position Safety Specialist I: 0-3 years of related experience Safety Specialist II: 4-6 years of related experience Safety Specialist III: 7-10 years of related experience Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position Excellent oral and written communication skills so as to interact effectively with all levels of employees (Craft through Director/VP). Ability to influence and motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues. Must be familiar with and have the ability to interpret OSHA regulations and provide guidance to management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace. Strong knowledge of computers and related technology. Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks. Ability to make timely and safe decisions. Excellent knowledge of Entergy's safety policies and procedures. Strong problem solver. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self motivated and dependable team player. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards. Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service. Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
