Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: GENERAL PURPOSE: Manages the use of on and off campus physical facilities, the effective utilization of space and the projection of future space needs. Defines scope, preliminary budget estimates and program descriptions for further evaluation and implementation. Acts as a representative on major capital projects, and acts as a liaison between senior leadership, departmental representatives and project team to ensure adherence to agreed upon project terms. Identifies, tracks, justifies and communicates any variance to original agreed upon terms. Serves as a subject matter expert regarding policy issues on the administration of space planning, master planning, space standards, and scenario development. Schedule 8 AM-5 PM Responsibilities SUPERVISED BY: Assistant Director or designee, Space Planning URMC GENERAL PURPOSE: Evaluates and coordinates the use of the Medical Centerâ”s on and off campus clinical space resources in inpatient, ambulatory, and diagnostic & treatment facilities and related clinical support and/or on-campus research and academic space resources. Analyzes the effective utilization of space and the projection of future needs. Collaborates with Department Administrators and hospital leadership to define scope and program descriptions based on patient flow, staff operations, and research procedures and work processes. Serves as a staff assistant to the Director regarding policy issues on the administration of space planning at the Medical Center with a focus on master planning, space standards, and scenario development. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Within established policy and with latitude for independent judgment: Evaluates requests from the Senior Vice President of Health Sciences, Dean, Hospital Directors or Departments for renovation, relocation, expansion or improved use of existing space. Prepares and contributes to program documentation. (10%) Evaluates, tracks and resolves space requests. Negotiates space agreements and coordinates transactions between departments based upon space metrics. Direct interaction and negotiation with department leadership. (15%) Prepares reports, recommendations, planning programs or conceptual plans for approval by client/user requesting service and the Assistant Director/Director. In support of Space Committee decisions and Senior Administration requests, submits recommendations to Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) and Medical Center Facilities Operations (MCFO) for implementation. (15%) Provides support to MC Space Committee. Evaluates requests, tracks status and deadlines. Checks grant requests for space needs. (10%) Manages and coordinates the day-to-day updates for the University-wide space information system for the Medical Center. Works closely with the Controllerâ”s Office, Facilities, Information Technology Services and SMD Finance to continue to develop the Medical Center space information system. Works with and advises administrators on processes and training for the Medical Center space survey. (10%) Acts as liaison between client/user and the architects, contractors and project managers in PDC/MCFO. Manages small projects involving Health Sciences Division or other Senior Leadership of the Medical Center. Acts as liaison on projects to ensure adherence to original planning or acceptable alternatives. (15%) Coordinates the preparation of projections of Medical Center building needs based upon analyses of the departmentâ”s growth patterns and plans. Assists the Assistant Director of Space Planning and appropriate others in the development and ongoing evaluation of a comprehensive integrated planning process. Assumes responsibility for specific tasks including the collecting and analyzing of data, preparing narrative information and recording proceedings of meetings. (10%) Assists in the creation, maintenance and communication of a facilities master plan in support of the strategic and programmatic plans of the Medical Center. (5%) Coordinates the development of an assessment mechanism for measuring the efficiency of space utilization and recommends improvements in utilization of patient care and research space. (5%) Develops and maintains space standards to be used in the process of space renovation, reassignment and construction. (5%) REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree with major course work in Architecture, Facilities Planning, Interior Design, Finance, or Strategic Planning and 4-5 years relevant healthcare or research lab planning experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills accompanied by a pleasant personality to maintain positive internal and external relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
